The use of digital techniques in dental medicine has evolved dramatically in the latest decades. To some degree, the digital techniques has touched almost every aspect of orthodontic treatment, from digital photography and records collecting to indirect bonding and robotic bended wires. Nowadays, the state of the art digital orthodontics techniques include digital scans, virtual planning and 3D printing. The use of digital scans helps the orthodontist to eliminate impression errors and to obtain accurate virtual models that can be computer analyzed and provide treatment objectives visualization. The communication between the orthodontist and the lab technician has never been easier.
The present work will review some of the digital planning techniques used in orthodontic treatment, together with clinical cases presentation.
