Session details

Facial reconstruction and maxillary bone atrophy is always very challenging, either from the great complexity of the face, but also due to the dynamics of mastication and the amount of sensitivity structures that can change people’s life by small changes in smell or sight.

Digital imaging and planning brought safer procedures with less intraoperative unforeseen difficulties. More recently CAD designs and 3D printing brought surgical guides, that allows less invasive surgery and more predictable results. In the last years the possibility of making individualised implants, allows surgeons to design complex geometries, easily adapted to the patient anatomy and can place with higher accuracy devices that respect the anatomy and physiology of the patient. The authors propose to present the clinical applications of this medical devices and how they can improve patient’s life.
