Session details

Esthetics is a melting pot, a mix of therapeutic techniques aimed at improving the aesthetics not only of the smile, but also of the face in general.

The fil-rouge, the link between all branches of Esthetics, not only medical and surgical, is in some fundamental elements, in some universal principles that allow you to always achieve a harmonious and natural result: for example, in Dentistry, whether we are talking about esthetic fillings, or bleaching, or laminate veneers or ceramic crowns (always respecting anatomy and occlusion!) extreme naturalness is achieved through three principles: anatomical Shape, surface Texture and Value. These principles apply also to all other medical and surgical esthetic disciplines, where shape and surface texture and light give different perceptions to the element we are treating, be it a tooth, or lips, a breast or a nose…

Everything is not only the intellectual heritage of the Golden Proportion, or of the static and stereotyped esthetics now designed by a computer or a 3D printers, but by the surgeon's abilities to collect or deflect lights creating illusory optical games on the forms that become changeable with the changing of the their lights themselves, not forgetting, however, that when we use different materials for different therapeutic needs, operational success is also obtained through product knowledge and how these same materials are to be used.

Today, for example, in the daily dental routine, we have a wide range of ceramic products that can, according to the value of the texture, and the mechanical strength, allow to achieve exceptional aesthetic and functional results: the aesthetic can be achieved through a mechanical manipulation of the surface texture, where the dentist or technician manage to give those effects of roughness or brilliance only through mechanical manipulation with abrasive polishing tools.

But talking about esthetic oral rehabilitation, we cannot hide the importance of the senescence of the face appears following the apparent deterioration of the muscle tissues, bones and teeth.

Beyond that the lines of expression that appear on the forehead and around the eye sockets (ocular cavities), the more serious deterioration is observed in the third inferior of the face, exactly in the zone of smiling (around the mouth), a phenomenal cause of senescence of the dental and gum tissues, that a times can alter the facial physiognomy determining, in the patient, functional and psychological problems made yet more evident from the defects of the gestures and phonation.

Our duty as professionals is therefore to be able to integrate our work within a broader and more complete vision of aesthetics, including aesthetic medicine and cosmetic surgery, always respecting harmony and naturalness.

Esthetic Dermatology, or Cosmetic Surgery, integrating at Dentistry, today offers a variety of therapeutic solutions that can improve the appearance of the tissues, their shapes, aging and degeneration due to external and interior agents, completing our dental result on the face of our patients.

Today with different qualities of Hyaluronic Acid we can treat the patient hydrating and bio-stimulating or changing the contour and volume of the face.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows .

In Dentistry, BOTOX® could be used for relaxation of the masseter muscles, after implantology in the posterior areas, or to improve the hypertonus that causes the gummy smile.

In conclusion, going out of the box, only a wide vision and through rigid collaboration between the different disciplines, surgical and medical, can give back a partial or total success, of his original corporal image, always in the respect of harmony and naturalness.

But to be able to reach the aesthetic result wanted by the patient it is always better to begin with an accurate diagnostic, not strictly for the teeth, but of these in a global context, conditions necessary to proceed with the treatment of restoration; in fact it can better the patients aspect, it will be our object, not only to value the form and the function of the teeth, but all that regards the anthropometrics of the face, and also the personality, status, life style, sex, profession and the all the other characteristics that distinguish one individual from another, becoming careful observations of everything. Suddenly, the smile will become an integral part of the face and more in general, of all the person, expressing their beauty!
