Changes are all around us; sometimes we perceive them immediately, sometimes after a while, and then we are able to prepare ourselves for the changes we see coming. In dentistry changes are very obvious and in the last decade our profession has met a lot of challenges that compelled us to move forward at a very fast pace. A great deal of new advanced technologies emerged, which enabled us to find shorter, easier and more predictable ways. But every change, even for the better, pushes us out of our comfort zone and may stir apprehension. However, apps, cameras, scanners, 3D printing, teeth design software and machines to manufacture our restorations are now available, providing us with enough tools to overcome former impediments. The aesthetic standards are not necessarily changed but the way in which we can analyze and previsualize our treatments are remarkable and can offer the possibility of creating beautiful smiles for many patients. And who can appreciate beauty more than women? Women, who are becoming majority in our profession lately, which holds true for students in dentistry in our country and all over the world. The present conference aims at demonstrating how women dentists can create amazing aesthetic restorations using state-of-the-art technology in severely damaged cases that require full aesthetic and functional restoration.
Dr. Smaranda Buduru is associate professor and the head of the Prosthodontic Department at the Faculty of Dentistry,University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Iuliu Hatieganu", Cluj-Napoca. She is the course director of Dental Occlusion and Temporomandibular Dysfunction and of the Innovative and integrative dental technology.
She graduated UMF "Iuliu Hatieganu", class of 1991. In 1995 she gratuated the residency program in General Dentistry, obtaining the Master of Science Degree. In 2000 she obtained the primary doctor degree in General Dentistry.In 2003 she obtained the PhD title in Prosthodontics. In 2013 she obtained the Master of Science Degree in Prosthodontics.
She is a member of the Prosthodontic Department since 1997. Over the time she published over 50 studies and articles in national and international journals. She also published the following books: "The clinical examination of patients with temporomandibular disorder", "Clinical notions of occlusion", "Comprehensive esthetic dentistry", "Incursion în esthetic dentistry”, "Dental occlusion analysis: clinical versus articulator". Prof. Buduru is also the coordinator of the private educational centre Stomestet.
