For over 40 years, Thales has been a supplier to the Romanian armed forces, and in 2007, began to run its industrial operations in Romania. Today, Thales is a major player in the Romanian rail transport industry operating a mainline rail signaling Competence Centre with more than 250 software engineers employed.

In the field of science and technology, Thales in Romania is involved in the European laser research project ELI-NP (Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear Physics), responsible for the turnkey development and supply of a complex scientific instrument. Providing its Romanian partners with a high-power laser system that will deliver the highest power in the world, 2x10 Petawatts (i.e. 20 million billion watts), Thales has also developed a special technical and scientific training programme to train our local engineers and technicians to install and operate the system for European research programmes. The laser was installed at Romania’s nuclear physics institute (IFN-HH) in Magurele, near Bucharest, 2016 and it will be fully functional in 2019.

DevOps Engineer- Tiss project

Security DevOps Engineer (for Naval/Defense Business)
About the project
Within the Engineering cluster, the Naval business unit is collaborating within the Thales group on the development of combat and information management systems for navy ships, integration with sensor- and weapon systems as well as the development of sensor processing applications. These complex systems contain advanced solutions for information processing, information management and the user interaction with both sensor- and weapon systems. Our product, called TACTICOS, offers essential support for missions varying from anti-piracy to ballistic missile defense.
TACTICOS has been designed to fully support the command team in each stage of a naval operation.
This includes assessing and monitoring the tactical situation, planning and coordinating actions, as well as controlling integrated sensors and weapons.
TACTICOS features capabilities for data collection and tactical picture compilation to present information in a Tactical Display Area (TDA). The TDA displays real-time situation awareness, which enables an operator to respond stringently when actions are needed.
The TACTICOS capabilities are unrivaled and based on recognized l expertise as applied for various European, Asian and American customers.

Dev[Sec]Ops Engineer for Space Business
Short task description

Senior Automation Testing Engineer for Space Business
Thales Systems Romania (TSR) is now developing its capacities in Sw development for Space applications in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space (TAS).
Thales Alenia Space develops the ground segment of MTG (Meteosat Third Generation) project, satellite dedicated to meteorology forecast. Thales Alenia Space Software Competence Center is in charge of the Instrument Data Processing Facility (IDPF).
This processing threats a large amount of data (5 TB per day) and uses high performance computation algorithms with high technical constraints (timeliness, data rate, storage)
Thales Systems Romania will be responsible of the development, integration and test of the MTG product according to Agile methodology (SCRUM).
